Thanks to a mysterious “"Cédric Klapisch",” who supposedly found the lost archival footage that makes up the film, we now know all there is to know about the life of Jules-Etienne Marey, inventor of time-lapse photography, the precursor of cinematography. Shot in the style of early Pathé newsreels, this mockumentary is a joyous concoction of pure invention and authentic facts.

1995 - LE RAMONEUR DES LILAS (The Lilacs' Chimney Sweep)
“The Lilacs” residence is home to the squire and lady of the manor. The squire no sooner exits when the chimney sweep arrives. Plus, there’s a maid whose sole duty is running out for condoms. That ought to give you an idea of how serious it all is…! This short was part of an anti-AIDS campaign supported and initiated by Canal Plus and the French Ministry of Health. They asked several filmmakers (including Jacques Audiard, Marc Caro & Gaspar Noé) to direct a pornographic short educating the public as to the dangers of AIDS and promoting the use of condoms.
